2. How we use information
We use your information to:
- Create and manage your RecipeHub account
- Save, organize and display your recipes
- Import and structure recipes from supported sources
- Provide OCR, translation and recipe-classification features
- Sync your cooking notes, history and personal recipe changes
- Send notifications you enable, including reminders and import-completion notifications
- Provide support and investigate reported problems
- Understand how RecipeHub is used and improve the product
- Protect the security and reliability of the service
3. Authentication
RecipeHub uses Supabase Auth to manage user accounts and authentication.
Depending on the sign-in method you choose, authentication may involve:
- Email and password
- Sign in with Apple
- Google Sign-In
Apple and Google may provide RecipeHub with information such as your email address, name and provider-specific account identifier, according to the permissions and privacy settings of those services.
4. AI and automated processing
RecipeHub uses third-party AI and language-processing providers for specific product features.
These may include:
Anthropic
Used for recipe extraction from text and certain recipe-processing tasks.
OpenAI
Used for photo and handwriting recognition and some recipe-classification tasks.
Microsoft Azure Translator
Used when you request recipe translation.
The information sent depends on the feature you use. For example, this may include recipe text, ingredients, instructions, source text, or an image you choose to process.
Private cooking notes, personal cooking photos and unrelated personal content are not sent to AI providers unless required by the specific feature you actively use.
AI-generated results may be inaccurate and should be reviewed before relying on them.
5. Recipe imports and third-party sources
When you import a recipe from a website or social platform, RecipeHub may use third-party services and public interfaces to retrieve the content needed to create the recipe.
These may include services or interfaces related to:
- ScrapeCreators
- Microlink
- YouTube
- TikTok
- Other public web or embedding services
The source URL and relevant public content may be processed by these services as necessary to complete the import.
RecipeHub does not control the privacy practices of third-party websites or platforms you choose to import content from.
6. Analytics
RecipeHub uses PostHog for product analytics.
PostHog receives a random RecipeHub user identifier and product-interaction events. RecipeHub does not intentionally send your email address, name, recipe text, notes or photos to PostHog.
Automatic screen capture, touch capture and session replay are not enabled.
Historical analytics events may remain after account deletion in a de-identified form. When your RecipeHub account is deleted, the link between your account and the random analytics identifier is removed.
7. Notifications
RecipeHub may send notifications if you grant permission.
Notifications may include:
- Recipe reminders
- Cooking timers
- Import or background-processing completion
- Other app functionality you choose to enable
RecipeHub uses Apple Push Notification service and Expo notification infrastructure for remote notifications.
You can change notification permissions at any time in iOS Settings.
8. Storage and image visibility
RecipeHub uses Supabase for database and file storage.
Some recipe cover images are stored in a public storage bucket. This means that anyone with the direct image URL may be able to view that image without signing in.
Do not use a recipe cover image for sensitive or confidential content.
Other content, including source images used for recipe import and personal cooking photos, is stored in private storage and accessed through authenticated or time-limited access mechanisms.
Recipe source images may be retained after the recipe is saved so RecipeHub can preserve the original source and support recipe functionality.
9. Shared recipes
If you choose to create a public share link for a recipe, the shared page may contain a snapshot of recipe information and the original source URL.
Private notes, personal cooking history, account identifiers and other private account data are not included in the public shared recipe unless explicitly stated in the sharing flow.
Anyone with the share link may be able to view the shared recipe.
10. Website forms and early-access signups
If you submit your email address through the RecipeHub website, including an early-access or testing signup form, we may store that email address in order to contact you about RecipeHub access or product updates related to that signup.
You can ask us to remove your email from these lists at any time.
11. Data retention
We retain account and recipe data while your RecipeHub account remains active and as needed to provide the service.
Some technical, operational or analytics records may be retained for security, reliability, accounting or product-analysis purposes.
De-identified analytics events may remain after account deletion.
12. Account deletion
You can delete your RecipeHub account from within the app through:
Settings → Delete Account
Account deletion is intended to permanently remove:
- Your RecipeHub account
- Your recipes
- Notes and modifications
- Cooking history
- Associated stored images and files
For accounts connected through Sign in with Apple, RecipeHub also attempts to revoke the Apple authorization associated with the account.
Account deletion is irreversible.
If you experience a problem deleting your account, contact us at:
13. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including authenticated access, database access controls and restricted storage for private content.
However, no online service or storage system can guarantee absolute security.
14. Third-party services
RecipeHub relies on third-party providers to operate parts of the service, including infrastructure, authentication, analytics, notifications, AI processing, translation and content import.
These providers may process information according to their own privacy policies and contractual terms.
Key providers may include:
- Supabase
- Apple
- PostHog
- Expo
- Anthropic
- OpenAI
- Microsoft Azure
- ScrapeCreators
